I would like to comment on Eileen S. comment. Never judge a resturant by the service you recieve on a holiday...or weekend for that matter. Read the book "Kitchen Confidential". I alway avoid resturants on holidays, I know I'll get a much better meal by preparing it at home. If you want a great meal be a regular on a Tuesday or a Wednesday.

Excellent food. Excellent service. Our waiter was knowledgeable, accommodating, and helpful. We ordered a cheese stuffed pastry and the bruschetta as an appetizer. Both were delicious. I ordered the Fettuccini Alfredo with shrimp and scallops as an entree. They were not skimpy with the seafood and the Alfredo was not too salty. The only thing a little odd was the addition of mushrooms, peppers, and onions to the dish. But it turned out to be a delicious addition! The desserts were divine, and I was shocked at how good the coffee was. I am used to drinking what is basically the equivalent of brown water at most restaurants, but the coffee at Atrium was nice and strong. I will definitely be back again and will recommend this restaurant to others.

I took 4 friends from detroit here. One was a very picky eater. They loved it here. Even after we left, they kept saying it was great. I had hosted them from Couchsurfing and wanted to make sure they were happy. One girl wanted seafood so I decided we try this place. She was impressed. The rest of the table had pasta that smelled amazing. The woman at the register was really sweet, I stood to talk to her for a few minutes. Our waiter was laid back and always made sure things were good. We ate outside. Dessert was amazing too. I can't believe I've never been here. My roommate and I agreed we would go back! There's even a cute bar attached called Stein Haus.

Went here for New Year's Eve with 3 other couples. We did get to sit under their canopy which was very festive as I was celebrating my 60th birthday as well. However, the food was mediocre, the service crazy slow and all overpriced. Not our waiter's fault as he was also working the Steinhaus as well as the Atrium. NYE, should have had more wait staff. Half of our table waited 25 minutes for their first drink, we had to ask for water when we could catch our waiter as he zipped past our table. I ordered the Pecan Crusted White Fish which was barely warm, along with the room temperature brown rice. The mixed vegetables were the only thing that was at the right temperature. My husband ordered one of the steak dishes on the menu but could barely cut with the steak knife he had to ask for. It is a great German atmosphere, with lots of antiques to look at, but would not recommend it for dining.

One of my wife and I's favorite restaurants. We come here for our anniversary every year. We have never had bad service. Too long a wait time, or bad food. It's always been excellent service. You don't even notice them serving you, which is how it's suppose to be, all of a sudden you have a full glass and your plates are gone. We always try to go on the weekend so we can get a table in the larger room which feels very much like a plaza in Europe. Overall a great experience.

I was hesitant to try this place. With good reason. The food was bland and way, way to overpriced. All though the staff did seem to know about the menu and wine, I found myself just wishing they would go away... Instead they practically tried to sell us every item on the menu, go figure, it seems they really needed our money beings they are a dead zone, and that makes sense because .... Of all the places to dine in bay city i dont know why anyone would choose this place.

We were waited on quickly, but the drink orders took forever to get. The soup tasted like Lipton instant soup. The meal was very good though.

Lovely atmosphere and very friendly staff! I had no issues with my food and I would come here again. It was a quiet Monday night and I pretty much had the place to myself.

There's definitely better out there. It was pretty much empty when I was there and you can kind of tell why. The food is mediocre and overpriced. I would pass if you are debating on eating here.

Have eaten here a couple times, but probably won't be back. First time the place was almost empty which made you feel almost alone in the big place. Service is very slow. Our last trip we had to wait 45 min to get our dessert. We just sat there the whole time waiting with no one coming to check on us. Very disappointing. For the price I expect much better service.

We recently had our daughter's wedding catered by the Atrium and it was done to perfection. The food, presentation and service were excellent and Elaine, the manager we worked with, made the entire process extremely easy.

This place was really good! We were just in Bay City for the evening and decided to try it. The inside is adorable and the service was excellent. We had appetizers, soup, entree and dessert (I know...total pig out!) and every thing was excellent. Will definitely go back next time we are in town.

Atrium has two sections. One side looks like a bar, the other side is a large banquet hall, and that's where I had my dinner last night. there were plenty of tables available on a saturday night. As I walked in, I heard welcoming guitar music going on. Waiter was detail and updated us with their special as soon as we seated, and gave us direction on the wine / alcohol menu. I ordered a Pfeiffer riesling and bruschetta to start, both of which were not bad. Pfeiffer riesling was not too sweet and not too dry. bruschetta has tomato and pesto which was ok, but i wished they put fresh basil on it. Then i had a seafood paella, which has lobster, shrimp, mussel, and clams on a bed of rice. The first impression on the paella was loaded with seafood and nicely presented. Moving the seafood to the side and i found that the rice was very soupy, as the broth was not completely absorbed by the rice. i scooped the rice and broth up and had my first bite. The broth was a little too bitter for my taste, seemed that maybe too much wine was added? or the artichoke did not match well with the seafood? Nevertheless, after eating a few bites i started enjoying the flavor in the rice and the broth. Lobster and the clams were tasty, but the shrimp was unfortunately overcooked and tasteless. Overall, the paella was decent - 3 stars, and i will give an extra half star for the effort. And i think i will eat it again. After dinner, the waiter brought a dessert tray with a variety of cakes (cheesecake, forest cake, tiramisu, sugar free pie, dutch apple pie, and others). I tried the forest cake and it was only ok, the chocolate cake was spongy. The whole meal was paced slowly, with relaxing music played by a guitarist (and i think he is very good). The waiter was very friendly. It was an enjoyable weekend dinner.

I came here at the suggestion of my hotel desk clerk. The place, as others have noted, is vast with really three discrete sections: dining, events and bar. I was seated in the former which on a Tuesday at 9 pm was largely empty. Lots of choice on the menu, excellent warm bread and herbed butter and great beer selection. I had the sausage trio which was substantial and not as sodium laden as one would expect. The turkey and rice soup to start was nice too. The shocker was the bill, which came to under $20. The proprietor was kind enough to show me around the property and, had I to do it again, I would have sat in the Stein Haus (bar) in the back. My one complaint with the place is the lighting which would profit from a dimmer-switch.

The food here is incredible, and the drink selection especially the beer list cannot be beat, the problem is that the staff although very nice, helpful, and knowledgeable are dreadfully slow, I think the problem is that this facility is understaffed, unfortunately this has gone on for years with no sign of change. Oh it is NOT a seafood restaurant, it is much more than that, they also specialize in German foods.

Menu sounds fantastic, but extremely slow service and the food has little taste. For 22 bucks I got a 2x2 inch piece of sea bass, not seasoned, ontop of lettuce. Everyone else was also dissapointed. The desserts were good but seemed store bought. Overall for the prove and location it was a dissapointment. Go somewhere else.

I have only been for a quiet lunch - in between true "lunch rush" and dinner service, but found the food to be pretty good. The BLT salad is really great, as is the California Rueben wrap thing. Service is sometimes a little on the slow side, especially if you are limited on time, and one of the few patrons in the restaurant.

Very disappointed with this place. A few years ago it was one of the best in the city, but it's really gone down hill. My wife had the Paella but the mussels and clams were undercooked. My meal was prime rib. The portion was small, very thin, and didn't appear to be a good cut at all. The vegetable was overcooked, as well as the potatoes. Service wasn't terrible, but not what I'd expect for the price. I wish they could get back to what they used to bel

Actually 3 1/2 stars. Nice place but a little loud. Seems to have been an old garage or warehouse or something similar. Good food variety, nice atmosphere, good drink and great deserts. Room enough for a private party and outside eating as well. Wait staff seemed to be a little short and we waited to long for service after we gave our orders.
